Memorial of Jesus’ death

Once each year, Jehovah’s Witnesses commemorate the death of Jesus. This year, the memorial will be held at the Roswell Convention and Civic Center, 912 N. Main St., at 7 p.m. Attendance is also possible by videoconference or by phone. For more information, call 575-623-6360.

Aqua Egg Hunt
The Roswell Recreation and Aquatic Center, 1402 W. College Blvd., hosts Aqua Egg Hunt from 1 to 3 p.m. Kids, ages 2 to 12, will be able to hunt for eggs while swimming. Additionally, the admission includes a swim pass for the day, spring-themed craft activity, games and a visit from the Easter Bunny with time for photos. A mesh bag will be provided to collect eggs during the official hunt. Don’t forget an Easter basket to take the eggs home in. Children’s egg hunt
First United Methodist Church is hosting a children’s egg hunt at Double Cross Ranch, 4804 Thunderbird Road, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Easter egg hunt will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will also be games, crafts and animals. Butterfly Trail Spring project
The Friends of Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge are looking for help celebrating Earth Day by sprucing up the refuge’s Butterfly Trail. After cleaning up the trail, native wildflowers and cacti will be planted. The event is open to all. Purple Day
Royal Family KIDS of Roswell’s standout fundraiser day for its Family KIDS Camp features several events during Purple Day, including a toy drive from 2 to 6 p.m. at the parking lot of the UFO McDonald’s downtown. Accepted are new unwrapped and unopened activity gifts (games, balls, footballs, craft kits) for children ages 6 to 12 (no dolls). Offices can participate in the Purple Day 1K Office Challenge. Private persons may sponsor and display a Purple Day yard sign. Even small donations are welcome and rewarded by a T-shirt to wear on Purple Day. Community Planting Day
Keep Chaves County Beautiful and MainStreet Roswell is holding its Community Planting Day at 10 a.m. at the Chaves County Courthouse on North Main Street. If possible, bring garden tools (trowel, hoe and forks), gloves (will be provided in case participants don’t have them), sunscreen and hat. The Friends of Spring River Zoo are inviting the public to Brew at the Zoo at Spring River Zoo, 1306 E. College Blvd. The event takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. and is open for adults ages 21 and up. RSO concert ‘Ode to Joy’
The Roswell Symphony Orchestra (RSO) presents Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, “Ode to Joy” with the Roswell Symphony Chorus, members of the University of Texas at El Paso Concert Choir and featuring soloists Ingela Onstead, Sarah Daughtrey, Jamie Flora and Michael Hix. The concert will be at the Pearson Auditorium on the New Mexico Military Institute grounds at 7:30 p.m. Students attend free of charge. For more information, visit roswellsymphony.org.
